About the talk:
| This talk will focus on hybrid networking, and in particular, the integration of IP data services and rapid provisioning of circuit services in support of Network Research. New ideas in control plane capabilities, including both inter-domain and intra-domain services, will be discussed. The talk will also cover the use of web services to communicate topology, path computation, scheduling, signaling, and lookup services currently being developed by Internet2, ESnet, and the European network GEANT2. |
About the speaker:
| As Chief Technology Officer at Internet2, Rick Summerhill has responsibility for the development and deployment of technology at Internet2, including all aspects of cyberinfrastructure on the Internet2 network. Prior to joining Internet2 in December of 2002, Rick served as the executive director of the Great Plains Network, an Internet2 GigaPop centered at Kansas City, Missouri. He has been associated with network engineering at the campus, regional and national levels for the last twenty years. Prior to network engineering, he served on the research faculty in Mathematics at Kansas State University. Rick attended Monmouth College where he received a B.A. in Mathematics and Physics and The University of Iowa where he received a M.S. and Ph.D. in Mathematics. |
